Cover author name must match your KDP account name

“We checked your files and found issues you need to fix before your book can be published on KDP: Cover — Update the author or contributor name on your front cover or spine so that it matches the name you entered during setup.” — Amazon KDP review email

Amazon compares the author name on your cover and spine with the author name you entered in KDP setup. They must match exactly.

Takeaway: If you registered under your legal name, you cannot put a pen name on the cover and expect it to pass review. Either use the same name everywhere, or change the author name in KDP setup before you upload the cover — and make sure cover, spine, and metadata all agree.
